DESCRIPTION

Rust converter for use on rusted steel and sandblasted steel as a pre-coating preparation. It neutralises the corrosion process by reacting quickly with the rust and transforms iron oxides into stable insoluble blue-black metal-organic complex inert surface. It gives a thorough chemical passivation of substrate making it a sound base for application of subsequent paint or coating systems. It is an excellent adhesion promoter for subsequent paint system and leaves a water insoluble hydrophobic film.

It is NON-HAZARDOUS, NON-FLAMMABLE and DRY FILM IS FIRE RETARDANT. Can be applied easily by brush, roller or spray and may also be applied to damp/wet rusted surfaces. 1 liter covers approx. 20 square metres and has a reaction time of only 3 hours. It is compatible with mostly used paint types and coating systems, alkyd systems, modified alkyds, chlorinated rubber, epoxies, polyurethanes, vinyls and the new water-based paint systems. It gives you cost-effective corrosion control and long term protection qualities.

APPLICATION

On all rusted steel surfaces before painting or repainting when preparation by sandblasting is a problem, e.g. cargo holds, decks, hatch covers, super structures, pipe lines, winches, rails etc. It is also used on sandblasted surfaces to prevent or passivate “flash rust”. Beyond being particularly suitable for use in the highly corrosive marine atmosphere it is indeed also suitable for use on offshore oilrigs, in shipyards and refineries.

DIRECTION FOR USE

Remove loose rust, rust scales/flakes by thorough wire brushing. Millscale, rust chips, blisters, deteriorated paints, oil, grease etc. should also be removed if present. In heavy industrial and marine atmospheres rust always contains soluble salts. It is important to remove atmospheric salts by water wash with freshwater prior to application of RUST CONVERTER. RUST CONVERTER is ready for use. One single thin application is sufficient. Apply by brush, roller or spray. 1 litres covers approx. 20 m2. Reaction time is 3 hours and paints/coatings must not be applied sooner. If the rust converter is applied in confined areas, reaction time may be somewhat longer. It is not a paint. Treated surfaces must be protected by suitable paints/coatings, preferably within 48 hours after application of the rust converter. Equipment should be washed and flushed in clean water immediately after use.

CAUTION

The rust converter should NOT be applied on hot surfaces above 40°C such as for instance a deck area in sunny tropical climate. Such areas should be treated only when the area ha cooled down during the evening and left for reaction overnight.

Gel-based Stainless Steel Stripper.

Gelinox

Gel-based Stainless Steel Stripper

PART # KC01

FEATURES

Gelinox is a gel-based pickling solution for stainless steels, designed for localized application. It facilitates the removal of welding oxides and other surface contaminants resulting from previous mechanical processes, which could lead to localized corrosion phenomena. Gelinox is formulated for brush application on specific areas and does not drip even when applied to vertical surfaces. To achieve optimal results, thorough cleaning is essential to mechanically remove the dissolved contaminants (oxides) from the surface. GELINOX consumption ranges from 250 - 350 g/m2 of surface.

USAGE INSTRUCTIONS

GELINOX is slightly thixotropic, and it is advisable to shake it well before use, especially after extended periods of storage. Ensure proper sealing of the container after use. Chemical treatments are generally ineffective if oils and greases are not removed beforehand. It is recommended to pretreat the surface with a degreasing agent. Adequate degreasing of the components is crucial for obtaining satisfactory results. Depending on the nature of the welds, it may be necessary to repeat the process or assist with a stainless steel brush, scouring pad, or plastic. We recommend applying GELINOX to welds using a plastic material brush.

Treatment times are as follows: - TIG welds: 10 to 30 minutes - Electrode welds: 30 to 60 minutes (at 20°C)

Conducting tests on samples is advised to determine the exact time required. After pickling the components, perform another thorough high-pressure wash. A final rinse with demi water ensures optimal results. To prevent streaks and spots after pickling, you can also use a stainless steel cleaner.

USAGE PRECAUTIONS

Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow the guidelines provided in the safety data sheet.

DISCHARGE OF WASTEWATER

The washing waters are acidic and cannot be directly discharged. They require neutralization and settling. Remember that industrial wastewater can only be discharged with authorization from competent authorities.
