Water Treatment GA03

OBWT 3
FOT Catalyst by Uniservice Unisafe srl Italy

Organic Boiler Water Treatment.

OBWT 3

Organic Boiler Water Treatment

PART # GA04 | 0731851223941

PHYSICAL DATA

Appearance: Brown liquid

pH: 13

Flash point (PM CC): None

Specific gravity: 1.21 @20ºC

Ph (1% solution): 13

DESCRIPTION

OBWT-3 is a brown liquid containing neutralized organic acids, pH, corrosion, scale and sludge conditioners. After using the treatment the boiler water will be clear and straw colored.

Uniservice Unisafe OBWT-3 is a liquid combination of low molecular weight components, neutralized organic acids, corrosion, scale and sludge conditioners. The specially blended low molecular weight compounds are designed to elevate boiler water pH to figures which reduce corrosion to the minimum levels possible in boilers (pH 10,5-11,0) with pressure of 7 to 50 bar.

The use of these compounds also prevent “under deposit” corrosion which is caused primarily by excess Alkalinity in standard conventional treatments. The advanced polymer technology will condition Hardness salts, modifying their crystalline structure as they precipitate at elevated temperatures.

The resulting crystal is non-adherent, light and remains in circulation with the water, enabling it to blow down easily. At the same time, an organic compound is formed throughout the boiler protecting it from corrosion.

ADVANTAGES

  • Environmentally safe, non-toxic product
  • Highly specialized combined polymer technology
  • Organic corrosion control
  • Stops excessive caustic build-up
  • Avoid hardness scale and sludge deposits
  • Elevates pH 10,5-11,0
  • Operates with low dissolved solid levels
  • Quick, simple and accurate testing

APPLICATION

OBWT-3 is suitable for all auxiliary boiler plants on motorships including dual pressure boiler primary system. OBWT-3 is suitable for boilers up to 20 bar, for best results we strongly recommend continuos dosage into the feed system, via a UNIservice dosing pump and tank unit.

DIRECTION FOR USE

Standard water treatment: OBWT-3 can be added directly to the feed water. We strongly recommend this is done by using a dosing pump. It is also recommended to continually dose OBWT-3 in conjunction with OBWT-4 using a Uniservice Unisafe dosing pump/tank unit.

The boiler water must meet the following conditions:

  • p-Alkalinity: 100-150 ppm CaCO3
  • Chloride content: max 100 ppm Cl (never exceed 300)
  • pH: 10.5 to 11.0
  • Conductivity: 400 to 1.000 microOhm

Use UNITEST PAK 3 kit for testing.

INITIAL DOSAGE

OBWT-3 is dosed at 0.4 liters per metric ton boiler water. Allow the boiler water to be conditioned for 24 hours and then carry out a p-Alkalinity test. Adjust product dosage as necessary to obtain a p-Alkalinity of 100-150 ppm. At the same time determine the chloride content. If the chlorides are too high, give the boiler a top and bottom blow down.

DAILY DOSAGE

Recheck p-Alkalinity and increase dosage of OBWT-3 if necessary to maintain pH or p-Alkalinity level. A minimum of 0.2 ltr/day should be dosed to maintain correct treatment levels in conjunction with regular top and bottom blow down. This dosage can vary according to conditions ie. size of the boiler system, make up water quality etc.

Water Treatment GA04

OBWT 4
FOT Catalyst by Uniservice Unisafe srl Italy

Organic Boiler Water Treatment.

OBWT 4

Organic Boiler Water Treatment

PART # GA05 | 0731851223958

PHYSICAL DATA

Appearance: Brown liquid

Flash point (PM CC): None

Specific gravity: 1.05 @20ºC

Ph (1% solution): 10.8

DESCRIPTION

OBWT-4 is a brown aqueous solution of neutralized organic acids and amines. Uniservice Unisafe OBWT-4 is an environmentally superior oxygen scavenger based on neutralized organic acids and a blend of volatile/neutralizing amines. The function of the neutralized organic acids it to remove oxygen from the feed water and form an organic iron compound on the steel surfaces of the boiler. OBWT-4 also provides excellent protection on copper based metals. The specialized blend of amines has little or no effect on the boiler itself, but carry over with the steam in a gaseous form, condensing wherever steam has done work and reverts to water (condensate). This in turn elevates the condensate pH (9.0 – 10.5), neutralizing the carbonic acid and filming the system, protecting it from corrosion. OBWT-4 filming properties also reduce corrosion on shut down lines, when moisture and oxygen are present.

ADVANTAGES

  • Environmentally safe, non-toxic product
  • Effective oxygen scavenger
  • Highly specialized single product for control of corrosion throughout the condensate system
  • Quick, simple and accurate testing
  • An effective iron tannate film assures excellent boiler surface protection

APPLICATION

OBWT-4 is suitable for all auxiliary boiler plants on motorships including dual pressure boiler primary system. OBWT-4 is suitable for boilers up to 20 bar, for best results we strongly recommend continuos dosage into the feed system, via a Uniservice Unisafe dosing pump and tank unit.

DIRECTION FOR USE

OBWT-4 is dosed at a rate which maintains a pH of 9.0-10.0 in the condensate returns. Oxygen entrainment largely depends on hot well temperatures and if these are maintained at above 80°C the condensate pH range of pH 9.0-9.5 is adequate. If hot well temperature control is erratic and averages less than 80°C tighter control is necessary and condensate returns should be kept in the range pH 9.5-10.0. It is not necessary to carry out oxygen or product residual tests.

Initial Dosage

OBWT-4 is initially dosed at 0.2 ltr/m3 boiler water. Systems showing signs of corrosion should be dosed at up to 0.7 ltr/m3 boiler water for the first few days in order to passivate all metal surfaces.

Daily Dosage

After initial dose, start metering at a minimum of 0.4 ltr/24 hours continuously and adjust to obtain correct condensate pH.

Dosing System

It is recommended that OBWT-4 be dosed continuously in conjunction with OBWT-3 via a metering pump/tank unit, discharging directly into the feed system and/or the exhaust gas economizer circulating pump discharge. It must NEVER be slug dosed to a running system via a hot well or by-pass feeder

DESCRIPTION

Liquid compound containing catalysed HYDRAZINE.

APPLICATION

HYDRAZINE is for use in boiler feed water and condensate systems to scavenge oxygen and maintain passive metal surfaces. HYDRAZINE reacts with the oxide film on steel surfaces in a boiler system to form a magnetite layer which gives metal protection. This “passivation” technique is useful for pretreatment of new boiler plant and for protection of boilers during idle and storage periods. HYDRAZINE may be used in all sizes and types of boilers but is particularly suited for use at high pressures where oxygen corrosion becomes rapid and where metallic corrosion products can quickly lead to overheating and failure of generating tubes.

DOSAGE AND CONTROL

  • The amount of HYDRAZINE required will depend on the amount of dissolved oxygen present in the feedwater. Your Uniservice Representative will give advice on the most economical dosage for any particular application.
  • HYDRAZINE must be added continuously by means of a chemical pump at the earliest practicable point in the feed system e.g. the deaerator storage or condenser extraction pump discharge. For low pressure auxiliary boiler HYDRAZINE can be injected in the water feed line after recirculation point, or directly into the hot well.
  • HYDRAZINE can be fed neat or in any convenient dilution. Dilution should be carried out using condensate or deaerated water. Initial dosage for untreated system is 100 mls per tonn. of water. Dosage will be increased or reduced in accordance with result of HYDRAZINE test.
  • Generally daily dosage of 1 litre for a boiler 10 tons of water capacity will keep the recommended value.
  • Control of HYDRAZINE level is made by a simple test. Consult Uniservice Unisafe water treatment manual.

NATURE OF SPECIAL RISKS

HYDRAZINE is a toxic and caustic product. Avoid contact with eyes and skin, in case rinse immediately with fresh water, and seek immediately medical attention.

  • The stability of the protective film is reinforced by built-in pH buffering compounds.
  • Contains specific corrosion inhibitors to provide protection for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
  • Controls formation of hard scale deposits when used with or in event of leakage of raw water in system.
  • Non-chromate product, therefore does not cause pollution problems associated with chromates.
  • Non harmful to no-metallic substances such as seals, glands, packing, hoses, gaskets, etc. and compatible with all types of Glycol based anti-freezes.

DIRECTION FOR USE - PRODUCT DOSE

Determine the quantity of treatment required for the system from the product dosage chart. Note: Sacrificial anodes (magnesium or zinc) and galvanized coating contained inside the cooling water system must be removed prior to the addition of NCLT as these materials are unnecessary in the treated system and can cause undesirable deposits if allowed to remain. Consult the local UNIservice Representative for additional information. Consult the local Uniservice Unisafe Representative for additional information.

  • The solution should be added to the system by addition to expansion tank or through a dosing line.
  • Ask Uniservice Unisafe representative eventual automatic dosing system to feed the product.
  • System contaminated with oil and/or scale should be cleaned before applying NCLT treatment. Use SEA CLEAN for degreasing and DESCALING LIQUID or POWDER for descaling operations.

RECOMMENDATION FOR COOLING WATER TREATED WITH NCLT

  • Nitrite (NO2): from 1500 to 3000 ppm (12 liters of NCLT each Ton of water)

  • Chlorides: Normal speed engine 100 PPM maximum / High speed engine 50 PPM maximum

  • Hardness: Max. 180 PPM CaCO3

  • pH:From 8.5 to 9.5 (In case the pH is below 8.5 add a small dose of ALKALINITY CONTROL to increase)

Always add NCLT in the point where circulation is high. Some new system’s feeder tanks are only for expansion and have very little or no circulation. In case of loss of treatment levels check first for leakage in the system. Distilled/deionized water should always be used.

Call for Uniservice Unisafe Service Engineer in case the loss of treatment (Nitrite levels) is not due to leakages on the cooling system but to other reasons like BACTERIA CONTAMINATION or OXIDATION of NITRITE that will change in NITRATE decreasing the protection to the system. On new buildings or overhauled systems, Engine Manufacturer advises must be closely followed in conjunction with Uniservice Unisafe.

All competitors Nitrite/Borate based water treatments are compatible with NCLT but allow old product to drop to lowest limit and start dosing Uniservice Unisafe product. NCLT will slowly remove sludge and other residues during first period of operation. This will result in possible cloudy water which will clarify after draining small quantities of water. It is not necessary to remove all existing coolant unless inspection has shown excessive contamination.

In case changing of treatment is performed after the soluble oil inhibitor type, a complete draining, cleaning and even degreasing of the circuit is advisable, but consult Uniservice Unisafe representative for the correct procedure of changing over to NCLT.

Chlor 12

Potable Water Treatment

PART # GF02 | (25L) 0731851224085 / (200L) 0731851224092

IMO Approved MEPC.2 – Annex 10: Cargo Tank Cleaning Additives

PHYSICAL DATA

Appearance: Light Yellow liquid

pH: 11 @20ºC

Odor: Chlorine

Flash point: None

DESCRIPTION

Chlorine is a chemical compound with the formula NaClO. Chlorine solution, commonly known as bleach, is frequently used as a disinfectant or a bleaching agent.

ADVANTAGES

Control and removal of bacterial flora ensured thus meeting the essential requirements for drinking water. 12% CHLORINE is universally recognized as a disinfectant for drinking water (approval by the Ministry of Health) therefore its use is allowed in all civil water supply lines.

RECOMMENDED DOSAGE

  • 0,2 PPM of RESIDUAL ACTIVE CHLORINE as assessed by DPD method and tablets or ortho-tolidine should always be present in the ship or pipeline farest point from place of application. Residual chlorine in drinking water tanks should range between 0,5 and 2 (maximum) PPM, to ensure wide range antibacterial protection. To obtain 2 PPM in a drinking water tank, put 20 cc of CHLOR 12 (corresponding to approximately 20 pump strokes of the proportioning pump) for every cubic meter of water.

  • CHLOR 12 may either be proportioned manually with the proportioning pump or automatically upon water loading by means of a proportioning system featuring a pulse water meter connected with a special proportioning pump. To obtain 20 cc per ton of CHLOR 12 (or 200 cc every 10 tons), a meter must be installed releasing one impulse every 50 ltrs of water flowing inside the pipe. Alternatively, an oversized meter can be used (i.e. every 10 lt.) In this case the Chlorine solution must be diluted with water or the proportioning pump has to be set to have a pump stroke every 50 litres.

  • Consult Uniservice Unisafe Service Engineer for Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi pool disinfection.

DESCRIPTION

Liquid organic polyelectrolyte.

  • Prevents formation of hard packed layers of mud and sediment in tanks. A loose deposit is formed which can then be easily removed.
  • Increases cargo payload by decreasing unwanted mud and silt in tanks.
  • Eliminates the considerable manual labour required to remove deposits.
  • Highly economical -very effective at low concentrations.
  • Non-pollutant and non-corrosive.
  • Safe and easy to use-non-toxic.

APPLICATION

The loading of ballast water often results in the deposition of mud, silt and sediment in the ballast tanks due to the presence of exces- sive amounts of these materials in the waters where ballast is lifted. If this is not dealt with on a regular basis a “permanent ballast” can accumulate causing problems in emptying the tank. MUD AND SILT DISPERSANT can help alleviate this situation by preventing this build up thus resulting in the more efficient operation of the vessel.

DIRECTION FOR USE

MUD AND SILT DISPERSANT may be used neat or diluted with water in any convenient proportions.

Maintenance Treatment

  1. Apply MUD AND SILT DISPERSANT directly to the tank prior to each ballasting operation.
  2. Dose MUD AND SILT DISPERSANT in concentrations of 0,5 litre per 10 tonnes of ballast water. The dosage will depend upon the severity of contamination in the area where ballast water is loaded.

Mud Lifting Treatment

  1. For existing accumulations of mud and silt in tanks, apply the maximum dosage of 1 litre of product per 10 tonnes tank capacity.
  2. Fill tank to 50% capacity with sea water.
  3. Allow the rolling motion of the ship to agitate solution. Maintain for 24 hours.
  4. Fill tank to capacity with sea water, pump out tank.
  5. Re-fill tank to capacity with sea water.
  6. Pump out tank and inspect.
