DESCRIPTION

UNI CHS is a water based, safe coating, created to improve the cleaning operations on bulk carriers trading in:

• coal
• pet-coke
• cement
• iron ore
• sulfur
• salt
• bauxite
• other staining dry cargoes

ADVANTAGES

UNI CHS forms a water soluble barrier on cargo holds which can be easily removed even with cold sea water. Easy to use and apply by means of low pressure spray equipment, suitable on all metals and alloys as well as all coatings. By filling the pores of the coating protects paint against cargo penetration. The product is non toxic, non flammable, non corrosive, non oxidizing and odorless.

APPLICATION

To achieve the best protection against corrosion and staining, cargo hold surfaces must be as clean and dry as possible before applying UNI CHS. In case cargo holds were washed with sea water after discharging the previous cargo, remember to rinse with fresh water before applying the coating.

UNI CHS is a ready to use solution and 1 liter (depending on the applying hardware) may cover from 15 to 20 square meters; a single application is enough to build the right layer of protection. The nozzle should be half meter distant from the surface and as soon as the area appears water wet a proper film is created, avoid over dosage.

To achieve the best protection, allow the film to dry completely before loading the cargo. Drying time is strictly related to ambient temperature and humidity and may vary from 1 to 6 hours. Once dried UNI CHS creates a non sticky film on the surface, fillings the micro pores of the coating hence preventing small particles to be trapped inside.

The product substantially helps the cleaning once the cargo has been discharged. After discharge it will be sufficient to clean the tanks with high pressure water as the film sis water soluble, in any case using a detergent mixed with water will prevent particles to re deposit on the surfaces. For such cleaning we suggest to use a normal alkaline detergent such as ECOCLEAN or UNICLEAN GP, both IMO approved and at a lower concentration than the usual (i.e. 0,5%).
