Foam Extinguisher

Applied to fuel fires in either an aspirated (mixed and expanded with air in a branch pipe) or non-aspirated form, foam functions to create a frothy blanket or seal over the fuel, effectively obstructing the access of oxygen. This prevention of oxygen reaching the fuel contributes to fire suppression. Unlike powder, foam possesses the unique ability to progressively extinguish fires without the risk of flashback, making it a versatile and valuable tool for ensuring maritime safety.

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Extinguisher

CO2 extinguishers are designed to contain carbon dioxide, a non-flammable gas, under high pressure. The pressure is so significant that it's not uncommon for fragments of dry ice to be propelled from the nozzle during operation. While effective for certain fire types, such as class B and electrical fires, they may not perform optimally on class A fires due to potential limitations in displacing enough oxygen to fully extinguish the fire, which could result in re-ignition.
One distinct advantage of CO2 extinguishers lies in their ability to leave no harmful residue behind after use, setting them apart from dry chemical extinguishers. This makes them an ideal choice for tackling electrical fires involving computers, electronic devices like switch-boxes, or electrical cabinets.

Dry Chemical Powder Extinguisher

The range of dry powder fire extinguishers exhibits exceptional versatility, making them suitable not only for Class A and B fires but also for Class C fires involving flammable gases like propane and butane. Their unique non-conductive properties render them safe for addressing electrical risks as well. These extinguishers are equipped with high-performance dry powder, making them an ideal choice for safeguarding high-risk areas. With a working pressure of approximately +/- 15 bar, all models ensure optimal performance.

Fire Suppression Systems

Uniservice Unisafe is dedicated to elevating your fire suppression system maintenance to an unparalleled level. Our comprehensive approach involves a wide array of services that guarantee unyielding safety and security throughout your protected spaces. With a commitment to precision and excellence, we conduct both annual and bi-annual inspections that align with international maritime regulations and classification society standards.

Our meticulous services encompass a range of critical tasks, including a thorough visual inspection and leak-testing of storage containers (cylinders), as well as methodical system checks to ensure optimal functionality. This includes careful examination and validation of valves, activators, alarms, and time delays. The scrutiny extends to distribution lines and nozzles, where meticulous verification takes place. Our unwavering attention to detail is further demonstrated through thorough level-checks, periodic hydrostatic tests, efficient refilling, and, when needed, the potential renewal of cylinders.

Moreover, our team of experts conducts an all-encompassing review of your system to ensure stringent compliance with major classification regulations. This dedication to adherence is bolstered by our certification, solidifying the reliability of your fire suppression system. We understand that your peace of mind is paramount, and Uniservice Unisafe is committed to providing it through meticulous care and unwavering dedication.

When considering the timing of inspections, it's vital to note that the effectiveness of your fire systems relies on routine evaluation. Our services seamlessly align with these requirements, ensuring the longevity and reliability of your fire suppression systems. Annual inspections offer a comprehensive assessment, covering visual checks, operational tests, pressure evaluations, and leak tests. Additionally, bi-annual inspections, particularly for fixed firefighting systems and fire alarms, encompass more extensive checks that delve into the intricate components of the system, often including functional tests.

To maintain the resilience of your systems, regular maintenance is indispensable. This entails servicing critical components, refilling extinguishers, and promptly replacing any expired or damaged parts. Hydrostatic testing, typically conducted every 5 years, evaluates the structural integrity and pressure capacity of fire extinguishers and cylinders, further solidifying their dependability.

Understanding that classification society rules play a pivotal role, we emphasize consulting the pertinent maritime regulations, classification society guidelines, and industry standards to ascertain precise inspection intervals and maintenance protocols for your specific vessel. These regulations are subject to ongoing evolution, making it essential to access the most up-to-date information for accurate guidance.

In sum, Uniservice Unisafe is your steadfast partner, ensuring your fire suppression systems are not only compliant but also resilient and effective in safeguarding lives and assets at sea.
