FOT

Fuel Oil Treatment Sludge Conditioner and Pre-Combustion Additive

PART # AA02 | 0731851223415

PHYSICAL DATA

  • Appearance: Clear reddish-brown liquid
  • Specific gravity: 0.96 at 20°C
  • Flash Point: More than 70°C
  • Corrosion action: Metal: None, Rubber: Slight swelling

DESCRIPTION

Uniservice Unisafe FOT is an oil soluble and self-dispersing fuel oil treatment primarily formulated to combat problems in the precombustion stage with oil used in marine diesel engines and boiler plants.

APPLICATION

  • Dissolves and disperses existing sludge. Dispersants maintain the combustible constituents in suspension throughout the oil.
  • Prevents polymerisation and inhibits asphaltenic sludge formation and paraffin wax separation resulting in less clogging of fuel filters and fuel injector fouling.
  • By dispersion of sludge Uniservice Unisafe FOT will counteract the effects of stratification (layering) of incompatible fuels, thereby promoting a homogeneous uniform viscosity.
  • Will break water/oil emulsions and promote separation of dispersed water from heavy fuel oil, thereby improving purifier efficiency.
  • Corrosion in tanks and fuel lines is reduced by effective corrosion inhibitor incorporated.
  • Improved conditions in the pre-combustion stage will result in an improvement of some post-combustion problems such as a more complete combustion, less carbon formation, decrease in deposit forming sodium, less smoke and soot.

PROPERTIES

Clear liquid with a characteristic smell, containing solvents, special detergents and dispersants. Contains no chlorinated solvents or other harmful ingredients.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

FOT is easy to use. The required quantity is introduced into the bunker tanks simply by pumping it through the sounding pipes prior to oil bunkering. The turbulence created by the subsequent bunkering will, together with the incorporated dispersants, ensure complete mixing and further distribution of the treatment uniformly throughout the fuel.

DOSAGE

To obtain the benefits of the chemical treatment to the entire fuel oil system it is necessary to dose the product in the most appropriate ratio depending upon the nature and severity of the problem. If Uniservice Unisafe FOT is not used regularly an initial dosage of 1:4000 should be used for breaking up and dispersing existing sludge. For counteracting the effects of incompatible fuels (stratification) a dosage as high as 1:2000 may be necessary.

DOSAGE

Dosage point location varies depending on engine/boiler fuel system layout. The most efficient and economical method is obtained with a metering pump, dosing the additive into the suction side of the booster pump (for diesel engines) or into the burner feed line (for boilers). Alternatively the additive may be dosed directly to the day tank prior to refilling or directly to the bunker tanks. Dosage rates are depending upon engine characteristics, operating conditions and quality of fuel oil. A CCAI (Calculated Carbon Aromaticity Index) number exceeding 840 indicates a poor fuel quality which justifies the use of a chemical fuel oil treatment to counteract the effects hereof. Typical dosage rate varies between 1:1000, 1:6000 and 1:12000. Consult your local Uniservice Unisafe Engineer for recommendations of the dosage rate based on specific problems and requirements onboard.ary.

Diesel Oil Lubricity Improver.

UNI LBR 2000.04

Diesel Oil Lubricity Improver

PART # AA05 | 0731851223446

PHYSICAL DATA

  • Appearance: Yellow amber liquid
  • Specific gravity: 0.900
  • Flash Point: >100°C

DESCRIPTION

UNI LBR 2000.04 is a marine fuel lubricity improver blended to restore the natural lubricity of ultra desulfurized oils (sulphur less than 50 ppm) UNI LBR 2000.04 used regularly, will reduce the wear of fuel pumps and injection/distribution system occurring when low intrinsic lubricity fuels are adopted.

PROPERTIES

  • Improve fuel lubricity
  • Reduces wear of distribution systems and fuel pumps
  • Fully compatible with system and engine components
  • Fully compatible with marine fuels/diesels and lube oils
  • Metal free high molecular organic acid
  • Reduces rust formation
  • Safe on rubber, light alloys and copper

APPLICATIONS

UNI LBR 2000.04 can be dosed either manually right before bunkering in the main storage tank or during the transfer from the main storage tank to the service tank by means of a dosing pump.

DOSAGE

The “perfect” dosage should be calculated upon the result of HFRR test done ashore by a laboratory as there is no direct link between the value of the Sulphur and the lubricity capability of the fuel. Considering the average value of HFRR found in several ULS fuels (Ultra Low Sulphur) analysed by independent laboratories the dosage rate may be set between 100 and 600 ppm in the worst cases . If we adopt a dosage of 200 ppm of UNI LBR 2000.04 without knowing the real HFRR value of the bunkered fuel we will for sure limitate any possible damage to the distribution system; this dosage expressed in litres is equal to 1 liter each 5 Tonn of fuel. In any case an eventual over dosage of UNI LBR 2000.04 will not cause any problems. Since the lubricity of the fuel does not depends only and/or directly to the content of sulphur, but is the result of the process of des- ulphurization of virgin naphtha, there is no fixed calculation for the dosage unless a specific fuel test is performed by a specialised laboratory.

PACKAGING

UNI LBR 2000.04 is supplied in 25 litres pails.

Economizer Treatment Liquid

Soot Deposits Liquid–Preventer in Exhaust Gas Boilers at Low Temperature

PART # AB02 | 0731851223460

PHYSICAL DATA

  • Appearance: Green/blue coloured neutral product containing special metal salts. Fully miscible with water.
  • Specific gravity: aprox. 1.19 Kg/l
  • Flash point: none
  • pH (1% solution): approx. 7
  • Contains: Nitrates inorganic NOS

DESCRIPTION

Active blend of mineral based salts, containing slag modifiers and carbon oxidation catalyst. Each stick contains approximately 0,5 Kg of SOOT REMOVER.

ADVANTAGES

  • Effective above 200°C
  • An easily dosed liquid
  • Complete coverage of entire exhaust gas unit
  • Greatly improved heat transfer
  • Neutralises sulphuric acid
  • Reduces corrosion and fire risk

APPLICATIONS

Today’s main propulsion units have low exhaust gas outlet temperatures. This is due to increased engine and turbo blower efficiency. Lower gas temperatures are also the result of running at reduced power. The low temperature and reduced gas volume gives increased soot deposition and subsequent corrosion. The increased deposition greatly reduces the thermal efficiency of the economizer. As “dew point” is often reached in the unit, causing the generation of sulphuric acid, the corrosion process is greatly accelerated. Economizer Treat Liquid is a specially developed liquid which is easily dosed into the system, using a special UNIservice injection unit. The special air assisted nozzles create a fine mist so that the liquid vaporizes on contact with the hot gas. The vapor mixes intimately with the exhaust gases and the active material is dispersed throughout the system in microscopic particles. These tiny particles have an extremely large “active surface area” and being light, remain in the gas fully dispersed. This ensures that all parts of the economizer are covered efficiently. In the past, powder products have been developed for this purpose. However, their large particle size and greater weight makes them difficult to inject efficiently, so they cannot reach all areas requiring treatment. This leads to product wastage and ineffective cleaning of the upper areas, where most of the soot is deposited. Economizer Treat Liquid catalyses the post combustion process, resulting in modified soot particles which are dry and non adherent. The resulting deposit is more friable and can be more easily removed by the action of the soot-blowers.

DIRECTION FOR USE

Economizer Treat Liquid is designed to prevent major build ups of soot in service. If the economizer is badly fouled we strongly recommend a pre-cleaning of the unit using Uniservice Gas Side Cleaner or Alkaclean.

Dosage Instructions 1-2 litres of Economizer Treat Liquid is required for every 1000 m2 of heating surface area. This amount should be increased / decreased dependant on economizer design and fuel consumption.

Dosage Period Economizer Treat Liquid should be injected daily or twice daily after soot-blowing.

Dosing Equipment The product must be dosed via the specially developed Uniservice–Injection unit which is made of materials suitable for prolonged contact with Economizer Treat Liquid.

Injection Points In most cases a single injector can be put into the exhaust system immediately after the turbo charger gas outlet. Uniservice Engineers will inspect and make detailed recommendations for exact positioning.

Dry Cleaning System of Turbochargers.

Asteroids

Dry Cleaning System of Turbochargers

PART # AB03 | 0731851223477

PHYSICAL DATA

  • Appearance: Brown color, solid natural granules.
  • Size: 1.3 – 1.7 mm (new tolerance)
  • Corrosive action: None
  • Packaging: Bags of 20 – 25 kg
  • Special risks and safety advice: None

DESCRIPTION

ASTEROIDS is blown by compressed air into the exhaust pipes before the turbocharger. This method of cleaning should be employed every 24 -48 hours of full-load operation. The interval between cleaning operations depends on the degree of contamination and on the increase in exhaust gas temperature after the turbine. Cleaning must be repeated if the gas temperature after the turbine on full load rises to 20°C (20 K) above the mean temperature. For a turbocharger with several gas inlets, the inlets should be cleaned one after the other. On engines with several turbochargers, these should be cleaned one after the other. The gas inlet temperature before the turbine must not exceed 580-590°C (853-863 K) in order to prevent severe burning of the ASTEROIDS before the turbine. Since it is not possible to remove thick coatings with relatively small quantities of ASTEROIDS, this method must be used more frequently. Injection of the ASTEROIDS into the turbine is best performed at high turbocharger speed, to ensure efficient mechanical cleaning.

APPLICATIONS

Instead of water, dry solid bodies in the form of granules like ASTEROIDS are used for cleaning. A certain quantity of them, depending on the turbocharger size, is blown by compressed air into the exhaust gas lines before the gas inlet casing On account of their hardness and composition (natural solid granules, size 1.3-1.7 mm.) ASTEROIDS have an excellent mechanical cleaning effect (soft blast). As a rule, a turbine should be cleaned every 24 to 48 hours of operation.

INSTALLATIONS OF ASTEROIDS CLEANING SYSTEM

  • Before each gas inlet, an adequately dimensioned pipe flange has to be selected and installed in the exhaust gas line (welded or cast eye).
  • Manufacture of containers (same number as gas inlets) as shown in the following drawing (welded assemblies).
  • Mount the fittings such as valves and the like.
  • The container has to be mounted with the strap provided for this purpose at an easily accessible location, the cock or gate valve being at least 300 mm above the corresponding pipe flange in the exhaust gas line. Maximum distance between cock or gate valve and pipe flange/exhaust gas line: 1 m.
  • Arrange the compressed-air pipe to the container.

APPLICATIONS

BIO CONTROL FOT is used in oil storage facilities which have problems due to bacteria colonisation and/or algae in the oil/ water interface.

DIRECTION FOR USE

Sterilisation of Luboil Systems: After severe contamination, all areas should be cleaned manually to remove sludge and silt. On large engines, cleaning with undiluted UNICLEAN GP of the casing frame followed by opening and thoroughly cleaning the sumps is strongly recommended. This should be followed by flushing of the entire lubricating oil system with a flushing oil containing 500 – 700 ml of BIO CONTROL FOT for every cubic meter.

Sterilisation of Fuel Storage Tanks: The action of bacteria in fuel during storage is widely misunderstood and its results often thought to be that of stratification of blended fuels due to incompatibility. If bacteria is suspected, water drawn from the fuel storage tank bottoms should be tested and the bacteria count established. If it is above 105/ml, there is a good chance that colonisation has taken place throughout the fuel. In such case treat at 500 - 700 ml of BIO CONTROL FOT for each cubic meter of fuel.
